About Jewelry Appraisals
An appraisal is an unbiased opinion as
to the quality, design, authenticity, and value of a specific piece of jewelry.
At Jones & Son our jewelry appraisals are the opinion, of our GIA, Graduate
Gemologist, which is backed and supported by his experience and training.
The most important aspect to understand about jewelry appraisals is that there
can honest variations between competent appraisals due to the difference in
opinions of two individuals.
The most important item on an appraisal
is the specific detailed description of the piece of jewelry not the price. The
price is a variation that is determined by seven different jewelry market
classifications, appropriate retail jewelry mark up, and appropriate cost of
materials and labor in the particular piece of jewelry. Most people commonly
believe that the declared price evaluation is the most important aspect of the
appraisal. This statement is false.
